Antisecretory and analgesic activities of Terminalia bellerica
This study describes the antisecretory and analgesic activities of the crude extract of Terminalia bellerica (Tb.Cr). T. bellerica extract inhibited the castor oil-induced intestinal fluid secretion in mice at the dose range of 300 1000 mg/kg. The extract also dose-dependently (50 100 mg/kg) reduced the numbers of acetic acid-mediated writhes in mice. These results indicate that T. bellerica ex...
متن کاملAntioxidant activity of acetone extract/fractions of Terminalia bellerica Roxb. fruit.
Terminalia bellerica Roxb. (Family: Combretaceae) has been valued in Indian system of medicine for treatment of wide range of diseases and reported to have antioxidant properties. In the present study, the free radical scavenging activity and antioxidant potential of acetone extract/fractions of its fruit was investigated using in vitro assays, including scavenging ability against 2,2'-diphenyl...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Activity of Pulicaria Dysenterica L.
Three extracts of Pulicaria dysenterica were examined for antibacterial activity using the agar disk-diffusion method against six bacterial strains. Some of these extracts were found to be active against some bacterial strains. The methanolic extract exhibited a superior level of antibacterial activity. All of the extracts were active against Vibrio chlorea.
متن کاملLeaves Antimicrobial Activity of Glycyrrhiza glabra L.
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) is an important medicinal plant. In this study, the antimicrobial activities of ethanolic and aqueous extracts from licorice leaves were studied compared to root extracts activities. Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were used as test organisms...
